The Fantastic 4 – Exciting New Anti-Aging Skincare Botanicals

Mother Nature’s pretty darn old, so it’s not all that surprising that she’s always got a few new anti-aging skincare tricks to share. In fact, it seems more and more these days that the most popular and downright effective anti-aging products take their cue and their ingredients directly from nature – specifically, through the use of certain plant-based botanicals.

Here are four of the latest and greatest anti-aging skincare botanicals to keep an eye on, all of which help eradicate wrinkles, stop sagging skin and help our beauty radiate from within:

Bearberry
This little flowering shrub is fast becoming known for its skin brightening possibilities. Its leaves have a powerful little skin lightener called arbutin, which is a close cousin to our own skin’s hydroquinone. Unfortunately, hydroquinone isn’t something we can safely use on our skin topically (it burns the heck out of it) – so bearberry is literally the next best thing! This is great for women with melasma, for example – and a recent study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology proves it. Women who used the stuff saw significantly lighter dark patches of skin in just 3 months and they didn’t report any itching, burning, rashes or other nasty side effects.

Acai
This is rapidly becoming the big buzz word in healthy living. All of the hype is a lot to take and frankly, even harder to believe. Still, when it comes to anti-aging skincare, the claims and the results actually seem to match up. This tiny berry out of Brazil is choc-full of emollients that can help older skin trap moisture it is so susceptible to losing. This alone, helps to give skin a youthful look and feel. Add to that the anti-oxidants it has in great abundance, this superfruit is also great for ridding the body of those nasty free-radicals that attack and break down our healthy cells – both in the skin and everywhere else.

Red Tea
Move over Green Tea! Red Tea comes from a South African shrub and is a great all-natural anti-inflammatory. If you suffer from rosacea or eczema, this might be the treatment for you. Not to be outdone by Acai or Bearberry, it’s full of antioxidants too. In fact, aspalathin is found only in red tea. Aspalathin is literally one of the most powerful antioxidants known to man – since it reduces free radical damage to the tune of up to 90% and has even been used as a holistic aid to skin cancer treatments, since one study had it able to reduce tumors by up to 60%.

Argan Oil
Called “liquid gold” by its many fans, this emollient is pressed out of the argan tree nut, which it native to Morocco. If you want to moisturize the skin and keep it soft and supple for longer by infusing it with super-concentrated amounts of healing Vitamin E, argan oil might be exactly the anti-aging skincare botanical you’ve been dreaming of.
